Greetings to all,
Approximately 1 1/2 years ago, I purchased a fine edition of a '74 tii, which has some modifications to it including a higher compression rebuilt motor, electronic ignition, lowered suspension, 320i interior, etc. My problem is this: I live @8,000' and am having constant trouble with the engine running too rich, especially when first starting it. I think the cold start valve is working fine- too fine! The plugs tend to foul when cold and I'm wondering if there's any tips out there on how to get the Fuel Injection leaned out for this elevation. Also, are there hotter plugs to be had and, if so, where? Right now, I'm running Bosch WR9DCs. Any advice? Thanks

What is the difference between the exhaust manifolds fitted to tii's and standard 2002's? Were the original castings the same or was there a difference in the casting? Also, have the manifolds changed; i.e., are new replacement manifolds the same as those originally fitted to tii's? Currently, the tii exhaust manifold seems to be the only manifold available through Mobile Tradition (excluding the thermal reactor which is also available - for $2000!). What's up with that?

I own a 73 2002 and out of the blue a gentleman approached me yesterday with "I have a Tii motor and a bunch of extra parts if you want em". I now have a whole load of parts and a motor that I hope is out of a tii. There is no intake or fuel injection in the group of parts. I would like to know how to tell if it truly is from a tii. Any help out there?
Thanks,
Gary

Is there a recent source for a new rotary A/C compressor and idler pulley for the tii's? My 73 has a very heavy piston type compressor and slightly noisy idler pulley for the A/C belt. I noticed Bob Murphy's 74 has a rotary compressor, but all the "kits" I've read about are for the E21 320i cars.

i haven't started my '74 2002Tii in a few months. Now when I try to start it it turns over untill the battery dies but will not fire. I do have a Petronic electronic ignition. In either case, even with a jump and the engine/starter truning quickly, still no firing up.
I will be checking the fuel pump fuse, and will remove a plug to see shether there has been any gad delivered to the cylinder. I will also check the sparks coming from the plugs to make sure they are getting juice. I was hoping for a fuse box diagram to see which fuse was for the fuel pump. also, any other suggestions you might have for getting my 2002 started and running again.
Sincerely,
Michael Cohen

My 4-speed transmission seems to be leaking fluid from the rear housing where it bolts to the main casing. I've replaced the reverse light switch and speedometer cable parts - but after wiping the transmission clean, it now leaks more than ever! (it didn't leak this bad before). The shift shaft seal and output shaft seals don't look too bad. The worst area is at the bottom joint near the support bracket. Short of removing the trans., can this leak point be done easily?

I have a client's 1974 2002tii in my shop ... (Geoffrey Isabelle)

I have a client's 1974 2002tii in my shop (#2782394) that is in need of a new front wiring harness. We purchased the available harnesses from BMW (61-11-1-352-915 and 61-11-1-355-799) and they both seem to be incorrect... the parts film is pretty unclear about what's what, so we wound up with both of them after the first didn't fit. They both seem to have an incorrect number of plugs, are missing a great deal of plugs for instruments, and are out and out the wrong shape. My questions are do you know if BMW produces the correct front harness? Have others in this situation just had to build a new harness? Do you know why the BMW supplied harnesses are so far off?

Thanks for your time and assistance. I greatly appreciate your help.

All the best,
